Every month, a new topic. Every public post, a data point. Signal Posts document what South Africans are saying on social media about the policy issues that shape their lives, and treat that discourse with the same rigour as any other primary source.
Signal Posts are monthly qualitative snapshots of public discourse on South African policy issues. Each post collects publicly available social media content, primarily from X (Twitter), thematically codes it, and applies the same analytical rigour as any other primary source.
The premise: every comment section is a focus group the state forgot to commission. The people most affected by broken systems are already speaking, in the language of exhaustion, precision, and quiet rage. Signal Posts listen, document, and analyse what quantitative data alone cannot capture.
New Signal Posts are published monthly. The archive grows here. Previous Signal Posts remain permanently accessible, because the discourse that shaped a moment deserves to be part of the record.
